MAN OVERBOARD

BY TONY PRO -

In life’s vast ocean, every individual is like a sailor navigating personal journeys through storms, calm waters, and unknown territories. Yet, there comes a moment when one shouts, “Man overboard!” A moment of danger, crisis, or unexpected downfall. This isn't just a call at sea it's a metaphor for the struggles people silently endure until something goes wrong.

"Man overboard" reminds us that no one is immune to sinking. The strongest swimmers may lose balance. The most disciplined minds may drift. The most cheerful souls may suddenly go quiet. And when they do, they need to be seen, heard, and rescued.

Too often, society watches people fall and debates whether they jumped or slipped, instead of reaching out. We become observers rather than lifelines. But true humanity is tested not when everything is calm, but when someone is drowning in depression, addiction, loss, shame, or fear.

The call "Man overboard" demands urgency. It means drop everything throw a lifebuoy, stop the ship, rescue the fallen. In our communities, this means listening without judgment, acting without delay, and helping without conditions.

You don’t have to fix everyone. But you can throw a rope. You can stop and see who’s missing. You can notice when someone who once laughed now withdraws. You can be the reason someone floats instead of sinks.

So today, ask yourself in your home, your workplace, your neighborhood is there a man overboard? And if so, what are you doing about it?

Because tomorrow, it could be you.
